Growth has been a common theme for Bellevue over the last few years. You name it, and we have probably had some new development. With each new development comes new opportunities for our community to grow. Subdivisions are bringing new neighbors, exciting new businesses are bringing new jobs and services, and our solid manufacturing core has even experienced increased growth and expansion. It is a great day to be in Bellevue.
Unfortunately, our municipal offices at 2828 Allouez Avenue
are struggling to meet our evolving needs. They are not only inadequate in size
to accommodate our current and future staff but also lack the necessary
facilities. It's disheartening to see our dedicated staff having to wash their
lunch dishes in a bathroom sink or deal with groundwater seeping through
foundation cracks. This situation underscores the pressing need for a new,
improved office space.
Back in 2006, the Village Board recognized this issue and
provided for future expansion at our Village Hall/Municipal Safety Building
located at 3100 Eaton Road. The new building, completed in 2008, emphasized
Fire, Police, and Court while also allowing for future expansion. It has taken
some time and careful planning, but the Village, with the support and
understanding of our community, is finally in the home stretches of a Village
Hall expansion design. The end goal is to finally address the failing office
building we currently call home, with the community's support being a crucial
part of this process.
Below, you will find more detailed information about the
project, including architectural renderings, site designs, and the anticipated
cost. By sharing these details, we can foster a sense of transparency and trust
within our community, which is essential as we embark on this important project
together.
This project is set to bring a positive transformation to
the Village, with potentially limitless benefits for staff and the community.
It will allow staff to program office space for each department, providing them
with high-quality working space, free from concerns such as rainwater dripping
from the ceiling or conference rooms without heat. This project will finally
bring to life a vision that was set forth by the Village Board almost two
decades ago, and it will do so in a fiscally responsible manner. Let's look
forward to an exciting next chapter for the Village of Bellevue!
Sincerely,
Benjamin Krumenauer, ICMA-CM
Village Administrator
