Changes to Vehicle Registration Fees

The Wisconsin 2019-2021 Biennial Budget includes new registration fees and hybrid electrical vehicle surcharges that went into effect October 1.

• Automobile registration fees increased from $75 to $85.
• Light truck (up to 6,000 lbs) registrations increased to $100.
• Hybrid electric vehicles are assessed a $75 surcharge.

When combined with the municipal vehicle registration fee (aka wheel tax) of $20 that the Village of Bellevue implemented this year to partially fund special assessment subsidies:

• Passenger car-type vehicle registrations are now $105.
• Light truck registrations are now $125.
