July is National Park and Recreation Month: A Lifetime of Discovery Awaits with Bellevue Parks, Recreation and Forestry

Celebrate Park and Recreation Month this July by attending Rockin’ in Josten, Movie in the Park, Yoga in the Park, Youth Fun Runs, and more!

Get ready to unlock a lifetime of discovery this July with Bellevue Parks, Recreation and Forestry and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).
Since 1985, America has celebrated July as the nation’s official Park and Recreation Month. Created by NRPA, Park and Recreation Month specifically highlights the vital and powerful role local parks and recreation, such as Bellevue Parks, Recreation and Forestry play in conservation, health and wellness, and social equity efforts in communities all across the country.
This year, it’s all about highlighting the unique — and sometimes unknown — offerings of your local parks and recreation facilities. From STEM programming to innovative health and wellness opportunities, your Bellevue parks and recreation facilities have a wide variety of beneficial programs. NRPA and Bellevue Parks, Recreation and Forestry are encouraging everyone to get out there and discover everything that is offered at their local parks and rec facilities!  "July is the perfect time to highlight all the benefits parks and recreation provides right here in Bellevue,” said Steve Soukup, Village President.  “Our local parks and recreation directly contribute to reduced obesity rates, an improved ecosystem and increased property values.”
In Bellevue, you can celebrate Park and Recreation month by going to Rockin’ in Josten concerts on Monday July 9th and 23rd, free Yoga in the Park each Tuesday night at 6pm at Josten Park, Movie in the Park on Friday, July 20th, our Senior Summer Social on Monday, July 15th, and our Youth Fun Runs for ages 2-12 on Sunday night, July 15th at 7:00pm at Josten Park.
This summer Bellevue Parks and Rec is partnering with Allouez Parks and Rec to offer Youth Enrichment League Camps for kids ages 7-12.  Upcoming camps include Varsity Builders Summer Camp (for LEGO lovers), Coding Summer Camp, and eXtreme MOBILE electroniX Summer Camp.  These camps are held over 4 days on Monday through Thursday from 9am until noon at either the Bellevue or Allouez Community Centers.  To learn more check out www.YouthEnrichmentLeague.com.
Bellevue Parks, Recreation and Forestry is leading initiatives and providing opportunities for people of all ages to achieve healthier lifestyles, promote and understand nature and conservation as well as bringing the community closer through a variety of programs and services.
Nationally, NRPA is celebrating Park and Recreation Month with a weekly contest encouraging people to show them the unique things they’ve discovered at their local parks. NRPA also encourages everyone that support parks and recreation to share something new they’ve discovered with the hashtag #DiscoverJuly.
