On Friday May 15, a ceremony was completed to honor the renaming of the Village Fire Station No. 1 (3100 Eaton Road) to the Chief Ray Vanden Bergh Station No. 1. Last December, the Village Board officially passed a Resolution authorizing the renaming of the station. At the ceremony, family, friends and members of the Fire Department were present to reveal the new station signage and to honor the occasion.
Chief Ran Vanden Bergh served as the first Fire Chief for the then Town of Bellevue Fire Department in 1971. The Chief dedicated much of his life to the operations of the Department and exemplified volunteer service and a commitment to the Village of Bellevue and its citizens until his passing in March, 2014.
Photos include family members of Chief Ray Vanden Bergh; wife Lynn and children Ben and Stacy. Also shown is the traditional uncoupling of the hose by family members, similar to a ribbon cutting event. The Village thanks the family and all those that attended the ceremony to convey this honor.
