Keep the Wreath Green

This holiday season the Bellevue Fire Department is asking you to “Keep the Wreath Green”. A wreath will be hung outside each fire station and will be decorated with green bulbs. A green bulb will be replaced with a red bulb for every residential fire during the holiday season.

The holiday season usually has an increase in residential fires. People are using their fire places more often, have candles burning, cooking more frequently, and have trees decorated.

The Bellevue Fire Department has a few safety tips to keep your family and home safe this holiday season. Have your chimney checked and cleaned by a professional. Never leave candles or cooking equipment unattended. If you have a real tree in your home make sure you keep it well watered and heat sources away.

The “Keep the Wreath Green” campaign will run until the end of December. The wreaths will be removed in January.
