Bellevue To Be Featured In "America's Backyard" Calendar

Imagine a backyard big enough to entertain an entire country. A place to run play, climb, grill, socialize, or just close your eyes and dream. A place where neighbors become friends, and communities grow more united.

When you think about it, our local parks and recreation areas are like one big backyard. Whether large or small, untamed or urban, remote or just down the block, parks connect us. Parks are the fabric of our neighborhoods. The un-official headquarters for play dates, pick-up games, and impromptu gatherings of all kinds.

The Village of Bellevue was recently selected as a Backyard Community by the National Parks & Recreation Association and will be featured in a national calendar celebrating parks and recreation. The Village submitted a dozen photos from various programs and sites throughout the Village. The photo shown will be the featured photo from Bellevue. The photo was taken at our Challenger Sports Soccer Camp this past summer at Willow Creek Park.

Congratulations Bellevue! Our Parks help keep us a healthy, vibrant community; a "Backyard Community."

Klondike & Ontario Roads Now Open To Traffic

Klondike Road was opened to the public on Friday November 12, 2010. Construction signs will still be up as crews work alongside the new asphalt doing the final restoration. Public Works officials are reminding motorists to be cautious the crews while they are still working in the area.
The stream bank stabilization project began in September, just east of the I-43 underpass. It was hoped that the road could be kept open to traffic during construction. However after construction started, a significant rain event occurred causing a shift in the soils in the embankment near the roadway. As a result, the road was shut the down for the safety of workers and motorists.

Ontario Road was opened to traffic last week. Crews continue to work in the area performing roadside restoration.

The most northernly section of Ontario Road within the Village, approximately 1350 feet north of Eaton Road to Village Limits, has been closed since Monday, August 16, 2010 for reconstruction. The road section has been urbanized, which includes curb, gutter and water/sewer utilities. Crews will be back next year to place the final layer of asphalt.

For more information visit the Village's website at:, or contact the Public Works Department at (920) 468-5225.
